The legal team of Ngizwe Mchunu is reportedly demanding that Hlengiwe Mkhaliphi of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) withdraw statements she allegedly made about him and issue an apology.
According to reports, Mkhaliphi allegedly claimed that Mchunu is being funded by “white monopoly capitalists” to destabilise and disrupt the EFF.
Mchunu’s lawyers argue that the remarks are defamatory and damaging, and are now seeking a formal retraction as well as a public apology from the EFF MP.
The latest development adds to ongoing tensions between Mchunu and members of the EFF, amid political disagreements and public exchanges.
It remains unclear whether Mkhaliphi intends to respond to the legal demands.
