Roads Barricaded in Katlehong as Authorities Clear Protest Debris

Motorists in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni, are being urged to exercise caution after roads in the area were heavily barricaded with rocks and other objects, causing major disruptions to traffic.

Authorities say protesters also dug a hole in the middle of the road, creating a serious obstruction for motorists and making parts of the route difficult to access.

At the time of reporting, no protest participants were present at the scene, but law enforcement officials remain on high alert.

Members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) and South African Police Service Public Order Policing (POPs) units are currently on site, working to clear the barricades and monitor the situation.

The reason behind the protest has not yet been confirmed.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the affected area and make use of alternative routes where possible while authorities continue efforts to restore normal traffic flow.
