27-Year-Old Pharmacist Nomzila Madinane to Be Laid to Rest Following Brutal Killing

Young pharmacist Nomzila Bayabonga Madinane, who was tragically shot and killed at her newly opened pharmacy in KwaNyuswa, Hillcrest, will be laid to rest on Sunday, 24 May 2026, at her ancestral home in Denny Dalton.

The 27-year-old pharmacist was allegedly killed in cold blood alongside her cashier, Melissa Sbanda, after armed men reportedly stormed into the pharmacy and opened fire.

The pharmacy had reportedly opened just a week before the deadly attack, after Nomzila identified a need for easier access to pharmaceutical services in the community.

A security officer who reportedly tried to intervene during the shooting was also wounded and rushed to hospital, where he continues to receive treatment.

As the community continues to mourn the loss of the two young women, no arrests have been made yet in connection with the killings.

Police investigations into the motive behind the attack are ongoing.
