Shock and heartbreak have gripped the Nyuswa community in Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal, after a woman who had reportedly opened a new pharmacy to help local residents access medication closer to home was allegedly shot and killed alongside her cashier.
According to reports, the pharmacy had only opened last week, with the aim of helping community members avoid travelling long distances to town to collect medication and other essentials.
However, tragedy struck when armed criminals allegedly attacked the business, fatally shooting the female owner and her cashier.
In another devastating turn, a security guard who reportedly tried to intervene was also allegedly shot during the incident and rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
The motive for the attack has not yet been confirmed, and police investigations are expected to determine whether the shooting was linked to robbery or another possible motive.
The incident has sparked outrage online, with many expressing sadness that a business reportedly opened to serve the community ended in such tragedy within days.
