The grandparents of missing 2-year-old Omphile Sethole remain behind bars after appearing before the Mahwelereng Magistrate’s Court today.
The couple has been charged with child negligence following the disappearance of the toddler, who was allegedly snatched from bed while sleeping next to her grandmother at their home.
Omphile went missing from Ga-Mabuela village near Tinmyne, Limpopo, in the early hours of 2 May 2026, sparking a widespread search and growing concern in the community.
According to earlier reports, the child’s 52-year-old grandmother allegedly discovered Omphile missing at around 06:00, after noticing that a bedroom window was open.
The case was postponed to 25 May 2026, when the grandparents are expected to return to court for a formal bail application.
Meanwhile, police investigations into Omphile’s disappearance continue, as authorities work to determine exactly what happened to the missing toddler.
