Brown Mogotsi will spend another weekend in police custody after his bail application was postponed to Monday, 25 May 2026.
Mogotsi, who was arrested on Friday evening, appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court following allegations that he staged an assassination attempt in Vosloorus.
The postponement means Mogotsi will remain behind bars for at least another week before the court hears arguments relating to his possible release on bail.
His arrest came shortly after he concluded testimony before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, with his legal team previously claiming they were caught by surprise and had not been informed that police intended to arrest him.
Police further allege that the firearm linked to the shooting of Mogotsi’s vehicle has been connected to other serious crimes, including murder and attempted murder investigations.
