Musician and politician Papa Penny has resigned from Parliament and the uMkhonto weSizwe Party, saying he has endured ongoing attacks, humiliation and disrespect from members within the party in Limpopo.
Papa Penny said he has been subjected to continuous bullying, undermining and insults by some MK Party members in Limpopo, adding that the experience became deeply painful because it came from people within his own organisation.
According to him, it would have been easier to understand if the criticism and attacks had come from political opponents, but said it was far more difficult to endure when it came from fellow party members.
His resignation marks another significant internal shake-up within the MK Party, which has in recent months faced reports of tensions and divisions in some provincial structures.
Papa Penny has not yet indicated what his next political move will be following his departure from both Parliament and the party.
