Oscar Mbo Pays Tribute to Late Mother: ‘You Loved All of Us So Loud’

Oscar Mbo posted a carousel of photos on Instagram this week showing his mother across different stages of their lives, alongside a message that’s as raw as it is tender.

“woah. 💔 you loved all of us so loud, you taught us how to pray, how to share and how to express ourselves,” he wrote. “I thank God for your amazing life that you shared with us Mama, the best childhood I had and the support you gave me from the very beginning to the end – you were so proud of me & would always remind me how good God is. Rest in eternal peace, I’m shattered but I’m filled with so much love as you always gave me. Rest in peace my love. 💔💔❤️”

While Oscar has kept his family life mostly private, he’s spoken before about how his mother kept him grounded as his career took off. In 2024 he publicly celebrated her by buying her a brand new car, a gesture that resonated with fans who followed his rise in the amapiano scene.

The post has been flooded with condolences. Media personality Nomuzi Mabena commented “Love and light pah,” while musician Ciza wrote, “Sorry for your loss brother condolences”.

Others shared prayers and words of strength for Oscar and his family during what he described as a shattering time.

Oscar’s mother was a steady presence behind the scenes, even as he became one of South Africa’s most recognized house and amapiano DJs. For someone known for upbeat sets and collaborations with artists like KG Smallz and MaWhoo, this moment shows a more personal side that fans rarely see.

The cause of death has not been dicelnced and Oscar hasn’t shared funeral arrangements yet.
