A brutal case has shocked the community of Pharare village, where a 15-year-old girl was found dead, allegedly killed and beheaded by her boyfriend.
The victim, born in 2010, was discovered on Sunday. Her head was later found some distance away, buried separately from her body.
Attempt to mislead investigators
Her 17-year-old boyfriend initially claimed that the two had been attacked by unknown criminals. He was found with stab wounds to his thighs.
However, police investigations revealed a different version of events.
Authorities have since confirmed that:
- The boyfriend has been arrested
- He allegedly carried out the killing
- He staged the attack to mislead police
- He inflicted the stab wounds on himself in an attempt to support his story
Outrage and concern
The incident has sparked outrage and renewed concern over gender-based violence in South Africa, particularly involving young people.
The ages of both the victim and the suspect have raised alarm about violence in teenage relationships and the urgent need for intervention.
