Family Claims Protests Triggered Mazwi Kubheka’s Release

New claims have emerged suggesting that public pressure may have played a role in the release of Mazwi Kubheka.

According to his sister, the men who were allegedly holding him captive became agitated and aggressive after learning about the growing public attention and marches calling for his safe return.

“They started asking him who he was and why so many people were marching for him,” she said.

Release linked to public outcry

The family believes it was the intensity of the protests and public pressure that ultimately led to Kubheka being released.

Kubheka had been missing for weeks before he was allegedly dumped in a veld in Ekurhuleni, after which he walked to a nearby road and was assisted by a taxi driver.

He later made his way to the Vosloorus Police Station, where police contacted his family.

Still recovering

While his return has brought relief, Kubheka is currently receiving medical care, with his family indicating that he is still recovering from the ordeal.

Investigation continues

Authorities continue to investigate the kidnapping, with suspects believed to include individuals of multiple nationalities, as previously confirmed by officials.
