Missing Vosloorus Man Mazwi Kubheka Found Safe After Weeks of Concern

Mazwi Kubheka, a 27-year-old spaza shop owner from Vosloorus, has been found after weeks of uncertainty following his disappearance.

Kubheka was reported missing on 2 April 2026, after leaving home to deposit money for his business but never returning — sparking widespread concern from his family and community.

His disappearance drew significant attention, with residents staging protests and political parties calling for urgent intervention, amid suspicions that the case may have been linked to disputes over his spaza shop business.

Family members had also raised concerns that he was allegedly under pressure to sell his shop to foreign nationals, something he reportedly refused before he went missing.

Presents himself to police

It has now emerged that Kubheka has presented himself at the Vosloorus Police Station, bringing relief after days of fear and speculation.

Details around where he had been during his disappearance, and the circumstances leading to his return, have not yet been officially confirmed.

Case still raises questions

While his safe return has been welcomed, the case continues to raise serious questions about safety, business-related disputes, and possible criminal elements in township economies.

Authorities are expected to continue investigations to determine what led to his disappearance.
