A 19-year-old driver has been arrested after allegedly travelling at 214km/h in a 100km/h zone on the R21 highway near Boksburg.
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that the teenager now faces charges of reckless and negligent driving following the incident.
Authorities say excessive speeding remains one of the leading causes of serious road accidents, and have warned motorists to adhere to speed limits to ensure road safety.
The suspect is expected to appear in court as investigations continue.
